Biografi

Professor Gordon Emmerson, PhD, adalah salah satu tokoh pelopor di bidang “Parts-based, trauma informed psychotherapy”, yang kemudian mengembangkan Resource Therapy, sebuah modalitas psikoterapi yang telah dipraktikkan oleh para psikolog, dokter, psikiater, terapis trauma, konselor, pekerja sosial dan coach di berbagai negara.

Berpuluh tahun lamanya menjalankan peran sebagai psikolog klinis, Dr. Emmerson mencurahkan dedikasi tersendiri pada proses intervensi psikologi berbasis Parts (Parts-based intervention) sebelum mengembangkan Resource Therapy dan mendirikan Resource Therapy International sebagai institusi yang secara resmi  berfokus pada penelitian dan pengembangan Resource Therapy.

Dr. Emmerson termasuk ke dalam salah satu dari segelintir orang yang sempat belajar bersama Dr. John Watkins dan Dr. Helen Watkins, sepasang suami-istri yang dikenal karena kontribusinya dalam dunia psikologi dalam mengembangkan Ego State Therapy, teknik terapi yang menjadi pionir dari pendekatan terapi yang berfokus pada Parts.

Hasil pembelajaran beliau bersama pasangan Watkins membawa beliau mengembangkan Ego State Therapy lebih jauh ke dunia konseling, sampai kemudian hasil penelitiannya berevolusi menjadi pendekatan yang saat ini dikenal sebagai Resource Therapy.
